Page 163 -Of course

Happy Independence Day to my USA readers! Go enjoy some red-white-and-blue desserts on festive plates and witness the spectacle of loud noise-makers exploding in the air whilst celebrating the birth of your nation.

I know I will.

Actually, it's not so much the birth of a nation but more the official starting point for a nation-potpourri ;-)

Heh, a celebration of independence, heh or in my case of having a very supportive family network, lol.

I love the page. It's gorgeous.

but the lettering is wrong. I am honestly sorry to say, because I love your illustration so much, but from a compositional standpoint: the lettering of brand and david's speech is confusing.

The reason is because the character on the left speaks second, even though the two characters take up equal space on the page, and are speaking with the same 'voice,' as characters. This means that Brand is 'read,' first visually, even though David speaks first.

I can understand the reason for doing it, and honestly it doesn't matter much. However, it's a bit of confusion that can be avoided in future by recognition of why it's confusing.

Aside from that I /love/ it.

...but the effect you describe due to the lettering is the one I WANTED. Brand and David are, at this point, speaking with the same voice. They are of one mind on the subject. No looks need to be exchanged, no hesitation before their reply. It was something done intentionally.

my point wasn't that it was wrong to have them speaking in the same voice.

I meant I thought that brand spoke first the first time I read the comic, and I had to re-read to figure out what had bothered me.
