There are no children in Heaven, so David has no (current) memory of children. So a baby is a very strange creature to him indeed.

The entire baby thing kind is kind of disturbing from my perspective. He doesn't even have the memory of children (which would be considered pretty basic to most of us) needing actual sympathy to be comforted. He does immediately understand that the noise coming out of the child is crying, though, which displays some of his warrior mentality in not immediately comforting the child (person). If he were a compassionate person, he wouldn't have understood children, but he would have understood that screaming at someone in pain doesn't help things. Overall, there is characterization in between the humour of this page.
I love it when someone puts it so eloquently to words.
I was just going to say (and this is only my surface reaction) that I'm glad this comic has somebody screaming at a baby, because I was not expecting it. <3
